BEHIND THE SCREENS
Discover what goes on BEHIND THE SCENES, or rather BEHIND THE SCREENS, of some of Dreamscreen's favourite projects.
We're excited to collaborate with incredible filmmakers, so here's a sneak peek into the making of these works.

BURNOVER SEQUENCE
FIRES
We were able to create a realistic but safe burnover sequence for one of the most nail-biting peaks of the series.
This included:
-
Research and development of previz concepts
-
Scanning and creating 3D assets
-
Blending practical effects (sparks) with virtual (fire/background)
-
Creating the 3D environment and fire simulations
MALLACOOTA WHARF
FIRES
With the help of Tracklab, Dreamscreen were able to recreate the crowded Mallacoota wharf scene inside the studio. You'll see the wharf in its entirety in Episode 6.
The art departments wharf build was scanned and then Dreamscreen created a 3D clone that extended the set piece virtually for 9m, allowing production to reproduce the blood red skies and anxiety felt by all those stuck on the wharf during those frightening fires.

SEASON 2
LA BREA
La Brea Season 2 challenged virtual production to truly enter another dimension, with virtual environments becoming more dynamic and scaling larger than any other production to hit Australia’s shores.
Dreamscreen Australia - in partnership with Tracklab, Spectre Studios and TDC - delivered a range of bespoke virtual environments used as set extensions, simulated travel and interactive displays.
We’d like to thank director, Adam Davidson and the team at NBC Universal Studios for allowing us to dream big.
SEASON 1
LA BREA
Dreamscreen provided instrumental support to NBC Universal’s production of La Brea season one. A uniquely shaped LED volume (30m by 6m) was built at Melbourne’s Dockland studios as well as a dedicated simulated travel volume.
We’d like to thank director, Adam Davidson and the team at NBC Universal Studios for allowing us to dream big.

TVC
ANACONDA
Our team welcomed Anaconda and Safari Global to our studio to shoot a winter campaign in the middle of summer.
The team were able to shoot a dozen campaigns showcasing a range of different products all within the comfort of our studio that has been online for over a year and still an effective campagin.
SHORT FILM
SAL'S DINER
Step inside Sal's Diner, a project designed by Virtual Production Designer, Stephanie Bonnes as part of the Specialist Placement Program supported by Vicscreen. Sal's Diner is one of many projects Stephanie has been working on whilst completing this program at Dreamscreen.
Sal's diner was a film set built on a tight budget at Dreamscreen Australia's film studio. Set in the 1950's, this no-frills American diner is a converted train carriage with an ironic aviation theme. As the production designer, it was my job to bring the look and feel to life and dress the set to tell the story.
