PLATES
WHAT ARE PLATES?
Plates can be either stills, stock shots, movie files, simulated travel multi-cam array, or pre-rendered video.

PLATES VS VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT
Unlike virtual environments, plates do not require the heavy computing power, as they are pre-rendered. In contrast, virtual environments are dynamic 3D worlds seen in-camera in real-time.

BENEFITS OF USING PLATES
-
Cost effective alternative to on location shoots.
-
Can be filmed footage of real locations.
-
Removes the necessity for productions to travel between multiple locations.
-
Fast playback and real-time alterations.
-
On-screen branding integration opportunities.

CASE STUDY:
Buddy Bet shot a dozen spots in 1.5 days of shooting at Dreamscreen.

This cafe sequence combines on-location and in-studio shots that intercut effortlessly.

Our team guided production on how to shoot background plates. This meant their key talent did not have to leave the controlled environment of our studio and allowed production to save costs.
CASE STUDY:
Utilising a creative blend of wiring, vintage lenses, and water, the production team behind 'Follow Your Rainbow' were able to create visually stunning footage right out of the camera.

The opening sequence used a 3D plate and a short practical runway for the talent. Combining camera techniques and moving footage, we created the sense of movement.

Instead of utilising an ordinary green screen, the talent were hung from our truss in front of our LED to gain the colour values from the content on their complexion.
