Elevating Action: Wire Work in Virtual Production
Discover how wire work on an LED virtual production stage unlocks safer, more dynamic, and visually stunning stunt sequences—captured entirely in-camera.
When it comes to crafting jaw-dropping stunts or creating the illusion of flight, wire work has long been a staple of cinematic storytelling. Combine wire work with cutting-edge technology and you unlock a new level of control, realism, and creative freedom.
At Dreamscreen, we’ve seen firsthand how wire work in a virtual production environment transforms both the process and the final product. Here’s why filmmakers, commercial directors, and creatives are choosing this combo to take their scenes to new heights—literally.
REAL-TIME WORLDS THAT MOVE WITH YOU
Traditional techniques such as green screen often require heavy imagination from both actors and crew, with final environments added in post. On an LED stage, the world is already there.
Creatives can still get parallax from both dynamic tracked unreal environments and static and moving plates. Depending on the type of content, creatives can make the ordinary look extraordinary.
IMMEDIATE VISUALS
With wire stunts, timing and placement are everything. On a virtual stage, the background isn’t a guess—it’s right there, visible to everyone on set. This allows the director, stunt coordinator, and performers to instantly see how a move plays out within the final shot, adjusting choreography and camera angles in real time, saving time and money in post-production. For those shots where you don't want to lock into the background, we put a small green halo around the actor making it easy for you in post-production but where you still get the beautiful colours of the environment (see image below)
FEWER LOCATION CHALLENGES, MORE CREATIVE CONTROL
Wire work outdoors comes with weather risks, lighting inconsistencies, and safety complications. On an LED stage, the environment is stable, controllable, and repeatable. Need to simulate flying through a snowstorm, soaring above a desert canyon, or leaping off a skyscraper at sunset? We can do it—all in a single day, without the hazards of real-world elements.
LIMITLESS VISUAL POSSIBILITIES WITHOUT LIMITS TO SAFETY
One of the most exhilarating benefits of working at Dreamscreen is the ability to pursue creative ambition without the constraints of practicality. Whether envisioning a character suspended in zero gravity, a dream sequence featuring a serene drift through space, or a superhero landing amidst dramatic slow-motion flames, the integration of wire rigs and immersive LED environments facilitates the exploration of bold, cinematic concepts. This approach not only enhances visual storytelling but also ensures that the talent remains safe and fully in control throughout the production process.

OFF-CAMERA: DREAMSCREEN'S MOTION CAPTURE AND TRUSS SYSTEM
Although wire work within our studio is great alternative to being on location and way to capture in-camera VFX, motion capture is another amazing benefit to shooting at Dreamscreen. Our studio features a state-of-the-art motion capture area designed specifically for performers and artists.
This fully equipped space utilises advanced motion cameras to accurately capture the nuances of movement, allowing for high-quality animation and digital character creation. The setup ensures a seamless integration of technology and creativity, providing an ideal environment for both live-action and animated projects.
Further, our truss system can allow productions to rig talent, lights, projectors and more. Moving backwards and forwards, up and down, productions can control the space to their liking.
Whether you're shooting a sci-fi epic, an action-packed commercial, or a surreal music video—Dreamscreen would love to help your next project fly.
